Prof. El-Minshawy: the Department of Clinical Pathology has succeeded for many years in maintaining the forefront of medical laboratories at the level of Egyptian universities
President of Assiut University: Accreditation represents an added value that reflects confidence in the correctness and accuracy of the results of analyzes of university hospitals laboratories
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, witnessed today, Tuesday 14 January; the celebration of the Department of Clinical Pathology, Assiut University Hospitals; the success of its main medical laboratories in obtaining the accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP); as the first laboratories at the level of Egyptian universities succeed in obtaining this high international accreditation, namely; the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, the blood bank at the main hospital, and the laboratory and blood bank at the women's health hospital.
This celebration comes in recognition of the success of these laboratories in applying the latest internationally approved quality standards, and in appreciation of the efforts of all the medical and administrative staff in charge of them, under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, chairman of the board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Hisham Abdel Rahim, head of the Department of Clinical Pathology, Dr. Hanan Jalal, Laboratory Director, Head of the bleeding and thrombosis unit, and head of the laboratory and blood bank unit at the University women's health hospital.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Alim, vice president of the University for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president of the University for graduate studies and research, Dr. Amani Omar, vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for graduate studies and research, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman, vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khalid Abdul Aziz, director of the University Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Nasr, director of the women's health hospital, with the participation of a number of deans of colleges, doctors, faculty members, and employees of the clinical pathologists, representatives of Siemens are success partners of the department.
Prof.El-Minshawy began his speech by congratulating the Department of Clinical Pathology for obtaining its medical laboratories this international accreditation, issued by the College of American Pathologists, which represents an added value to those laboratories, as well as to the users of the medical services provided through them, which reflects the confidence that these laboratories enjoy in the validity of the results of analyzes, access to the best diagnostic methods, and treatment of diseases in the shortest time.
The president of the University explained: over many years, the Department of Clinical Pathology has been able to lay a strong foundation stone, and a strong start has enabled it to maintain the leadership of medical laboratories at the level of Egyptian universities, where its affiliated laboratories have previously obtained the accreditation of the National Council for accreditation ijac in general 2022, and also received accreditation from the General Authority for accreditation and health control Gahar in general 2023, this confirms the amount of effort exerted, the high professionalism of the laboratory managers at Assiut University Hospitals, and their efforts in providing distinctive services to patients of Upper Egypt.
prof. El-Minshawy stressed that these credits confirm the efficiency of the human element, those responsible for the various stages of sampling, and up to the issuance of results, pointing out that this positive trend comes within the framework of the efforts of the Egyptian state aimed at developing its health institutions, paying attention to the health care file, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
Prof. El-Minshawy continued through his speech: Assiut University has been strong and ancient since its inception, and it was planned in a sound scientific manner, and it has been led by great cadres who have succeeded in adding many achievements in various scientific and medical fields, hoping to preserve these unique successes and unprecedented achievements achieved by the University, which has effectively strengthened its position in various scientific and academic circles regionally and internationally.
Dr. Alaa Attiyah expressed his pride in this new success, which is added to the record of achievements of Assiut University Hospitals, which confirms its keenness to provide comprehensive and distinguished health care to beneficiaries and visitors from all over the Republic through the application of the latest quality standards based on high-efficiency medical practices, appreciating the efforts of all medical and administrative staff, who contributed their efforts to reach this important achievement, and being strongly and efficiently at the forefront of Egyptian university laboratories.
During the celebration, Dr. Hisham Abdel Rahim stressed: the Department of Clinical Pathology is one of the largest and most prestigious medical laboratories within Egyptian universities, which is characterized by a quality and accreditation team; it enjoys professional performance, and is proficient with great cumulative experience, which works on the continuity of modernization that keeps pace with the accelerated development of international medical analysis mechanisms, pointing out that thanks to the efforts of all those in charge of it, three international accreditation certificates have been obtained, namely; EGAC GAHAR, and recently CAP, which is the highest accreditation certificate in the world, and they are the most stringent in the field of medical analysis.
The head of the Department of Clinical Pathology pointed out that the laboratories of the department provide their many services to a large geographical area within the Arab Republic of Egypt, and also participate in the work of the Presidential Initiative ١٠٠ million health; for early detection of the C virus, as well as diagnostic services for members of the university community, explaining the great role played by laboratories in Medical Research, Scientific Publishing, keeping abreast of all that is modern in the fields of medical analysis, quality requirements, accreditation, Occupational Safety and health.
The ceremony concluded with the dedication of the Shield of the Department of Clinical Pathology to prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Hisham Abdel Rahim, head of the Department of Clinical Pathology, and Dr. Hanan Jalal, director of laboratories.
The ceremony also witnessed honoring the heads of units in the department, namely: Dr. Hanan Omar, head of the Chemistry Unit, Dr. Suhair Kamel, head of the Immunology Unit, Dr. Mohammed Zakaria, head of the Bacteriology Unit, Dr. Iman Nasr, head of the blood bank unit, Dr. Fatima Halbawi, head of the hematology unit, in addition to honoring the deputy heads of units in the Department.
In a related context, Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, the president of the University, presented a shield in honor of Siemens, which provided great support throughout this trip, and honoring a number of its representatives, namely: Dr. Raafat Al-Shimi, Dr. Basil Mamdouh, Dr. said Johar, engineer Mohammed Mustafa, engineer Mehran Taha, and Dr. Ahmed Nadi.
