Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, affirmed the university's keenness to adopt and implement development projects aimed at achieving environmental sustainability and creating a healthy and safe university environment, pointing out that the university continues its efforts to support the expansion of green spaces and promote the culture of environmental conservation among students, faculty members and workers, in line with the university's vision to achieve integrated sustainable development.
In this context, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector held its regular meeting for April under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy and under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of the council members.
During the meeting, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem reviewed the major achievements made in recent months in the fields of environmental sustainability and public health. He also presented the activities of the sector’s various centers, including the Center for Sustainable Development, the Center for Civil Society Support, and the University Services Marketing Center.
The council also discussed a number of planned events, including awareness seminars on protecting water resources and promoting environmental sustainability concepts. The meeting also discussed the project of establishing a "botanical garden" on campus, which aims to familiarize students and the community with the types of plants and their environmental importance, thus contributing to enhancing environmental awareness and integrating environmental activities into the university's development system.
