 Dr. El-Minshawy inaugurated the expansion of the covered hall at the Olympic Village at Assiut University

- President of Assiut University: sports are a fundamental pillar in building a person and developing his abilities

- The covered hall has become fully equipped to receive many team sports activities such as basketball, handball, and volleyball, as well as individual games such as karate and gymnastics

- Dr. El-Minshawy directs the rapid completion of the track and swimming pool expansion works

  Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, inaugurated this morning, Wednesday, May 28, the development of the covered Hall No. 1 in the Olympic Village at the university campus, within the framework of the University's plan to develop and modernize its sports facilities and provide an attractive and supportive university environment for practicing diverse student activities.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Salah Qora'a, professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and general supervisor of the Olympic Village, Mr. Shawkat Saber Ali, secretary general of the University, Dr. Haitham Ibrahim Hassan, director general of the General Administration of Youth Welfare, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Ismail, responsible for the covered hall sector No. 1, as well as several department managers and employees of the General Administration of Youth Welfare, and employees of the Olympic Village.

  The development works included the renovation of the playgrounds ' floors and play nets for volleyball, basketball, and handball, in addition to the modernization of the electricity circuits and several administrative offices of the General Department of Youth Welfare, including the Office of the Director general, the tourist activation office, the planning and follow-up office, the Student Activities club administration office, the sports injuries and First Aid Unit office, and the Administrative Affairs Office

  The works also included renovation of the art theater in terms of decoration and lighting, modernizing restrooms, and creating new units.

Dr. Al-manshawi stressed that the development of the covered hall in the Olympic Village embodies the University's commitment to providing an integrated environment that supports excellence and creativity in various fields, foremost of which are sports activities, which the University attaches special importance to its role in building a person and developing his physical and psychological abilities. He added that the Olympic Village not only serves the University's students, faculty, and staff, but is a developed sports center that can contribute to serving the local community and organizing regional sports events, reflecting the leading role of the University in Upper Egypt, and in line with national trends in supporting youth and upgrading sports infrastructure.

  The president of Assiut University praised the great support of the Egyptian state for sports activities, praising the initiative of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi "Sport is National Security", which reflects the awareness of the political leadership of the importance of sport in human building and Community Development.

  For his side, Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula stated that Assiut University is moving steadily towards achieving the highest quality rates in its educational and student services, pointing out that the Olympic Village represents a fundamental pillar in the University's sports structure, and is one of the most important facilities supporting the physical and psychological health of students.

 In the same context, Dr. Ahmed Salah Qora’a explained that the covered hall has become fully equipped to receive various group sports activities, such as basketball, handball, and volleyball, as well as individual activities such as karate and gymnastics, enhancing the village's ability to serve various categories and sports activities at the University.

The opening ceremony included a special sports presentation for the gymnastics academy at the Olympic Village, Presented by the winning team of several tournaments at the level of the Republic, under the supervision of Dr. Marwa Ramadan Abdulkader, professor at the Faculty of Physical Education.

Finally, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy conducted an inspection tour to follow up on the maintenance and renovation works of the sports stadium playground, which were carried out using the "patching" (Grafting) technique. The president of the University directed to quick completion of the renovation of the track and swimming pool, expand the construction of new facilities that meet the needs of the Olympic Village, and support the sports activity at the University.
