Professor El-Menshawy praises Egypt's assumption of the presidency of the WSIS Forum. It confirms: It reflects international confidence in its leadership in the field of communications and digital transformation

Within the framework of the "Achievements Creating the Future" initiative, which was launched by the university under the auspices of Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, to enhance youth awareness of national achievements, the initiative continues to shed light on the successes achieved by the Egyptian state at the regional and international levels, reflecting its growing position in various fields, foremost of which is communications, information technology, and digital transformation.
Professor El-Menshawy praised Egypt's assumption of the presidency of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS Forum) for the year 2026, stressing that this international achievement embodies the great confidence that the Egyptian state enjoys in the international community and the International Telecommunication Union, and confirms its success in building an advanced
system for communications and digital transformation, in addition to its growing role in supporting international cooperation and active participation in the formulation of future policies for the ICT sector.
This achievement is the culmination of Egypt's active participation in the work of the forum over more than two decades, and reflects the tangible progress achieved by the country in the fields of digital transformation, digital capacity building, and the development of telecommunications infrastructure, which has strengthened Egypt's position as a regional and international center for digital economy and innovation.
In this context, Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, assumed the presidency of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS Forum) for the year 2026, represented by H.E. Minister Raafat Hindi, succeeding the Republic of South Africa, during the work of the Forum held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The WSIS Forum is the most prominent international platform to discuss the future of the digital economy and ICTs, formulate common visions to promote digital inclusion, exchange experiences and best practices, and strengthen international partnerships to keep pace with the rapid developments in the information and knowledge societies.
Professor El-Menshawy stressed that this achievement consolidates the influential Egyptian presence in international forums, and strengthens the country's position as a key partner in supporting the global digital transformation, in a way that supports building a competitive digital economy, and keeps pace with the goals of sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030.
