Assiut University President Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy praised the Sixth General Conference of the Egyptian Press at the Journalists' Syndicate for discussing important journalistic issues, putting forward mechanisms and visions to face the challenges of press institutions, and preserving the role of journalism in building an informed and responsible societal awareness.
Dr. Dweib Saber, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Legal Advisor to the President of the University, participated in the opening of the Sixth General Conference of the Egyptian Press at the Journalists Syndicate, under the supervision of Mr. Khaled El-Balshy, head of the Journalists Syndicate, and Dr. Waheed Abdel-Meguid, Secretary General of the Conference, with the participation of Egyptian, Arab and foreign journalists, representatives of Arab press syndicates, editors, writers, intellectuals, and training and development experts.
From December 14 to 16, the conference will discuss 19 sessions and round tables, in which 100 journalists and academics from different directions will speak on issues of administrative reform, the new vision of reform and publishing, ways to improve the financial and living conditions of journalists and ways to increase newspaper revenues, in addition to discussing the freedom of information circulation.
The President of Assiut University emphasized the importance of this conference in light of the large-scale changes that Egypt is witnessing to build a modern and modern state; emphasizing the role of journalism in strengthening the cohesion of state institutions, confirming the cohesion between the state and citizens to build a modern state, and completing giant national projects, pointing out the importance of striking a balance between press freedom and professional responsibility, providing content that meets public expectations and respects ethical values, adhering to quality standards in the production of press content, the importance of addressing media misinformation, and adhering to governance standards in managing institutions, transparency, responsibility, and accountability.
Dr. Dweeb Saber also pointed out the importance of the conference, whose activities include sessions, seminars and panel discussions on the challenges of administrative, financial and economic reform, the work environment in Egyptian institutions and newspapers, means of improving the wages of journalists and correcting their financial conditions, as well as sessions on the future of journalism in the era of artificial intelligence, in light of the spread of social media and other digital platforms
