Assiut University witnesses the holding of the conference of the Upper Egypt Society for Therapeutic Nutrition and Metabolism in cooperation with the Association of Therapeutic Nutrition Doctors in Assiut entitled "The New and the Points of Difference in Nutritional and metabolic disorders"
Under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the University witnessed; today, Thursday, December 26, the holding of the conference of the Upper Egypt Society for therapeutic nutrition and metabolism in cooperation with the Association of doctors of therapeutic nutrition in Assiut entitled "The New and the points of difference in nutritional and metabolic disorders", in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice-president of the University for education and Students Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul-Alim, vice-president of the University for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice-president of the University for graduate studies and research, Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the University Hospitals Administration, Dr. Amani Omar, vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for graduate studies and research, Dr. Osama al-Asheer, head of the therapeutic nutrition unit at the University Children's hospital, the president of the association, and the conference, Dr. Medhat al-Arabi, vice president of the association, and the conference.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the importance of holding scientific conferences and workshops that seek to develop medical expertise and competencies and keep abreast of the latest scientific developments to improve and develop the medical, research, and educational system to serve patients, praising the fruitful cooperation between the Upper Egypt Society for therapeutic nutrition and metabolism with the Association of therapeutic nutrition doctors in Assiut to improve public health and interest in therapeutic nutrition and Food Science to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in this field.
The opening session was attended by Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, undersecretary of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development, Dr. Mohammed Zein, undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Assiut, Dr. Alaa Arafat Hayallah, captain of pharmacists in Assiut, Dr. Mustafa Al-said, the guest of honor of the conference, Dr. Jamal Askar, head of Pediatrics, Dr. Ikram Abdul Khalek, head of the Department of Public Health, in addition to the participation of Health and various health bodies.
For his side, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla pointed out that the conference contributes to raising awareness of the importance of therapeutic nutrition, disease prevention, maintaining the ideal weight, and helping people with chronic diseases such as: "diabetes, heart, and pressure patients" in controlling the disease by following a proper healthy pattern.
Dr. Gamal Badr expressed his happiness to be among a constellation of doctors and nutritionists at various Egyptian universities, adding that therapeutic nutrition has become a major factor in the treatment of many diseases; it is an overlapping science that includes many medical specialties; to upgrade the role of health education and community service.
In a related context, Dr. Alaa Attiyah praised the efforts of the university administration in providing a distinguished and unique educational service by opening new fields and providing study programs, including therapeutic nutrition, which is increasing its role in achieving a better level of medical services, which contribute to reaching high rates of recovery through the largest medical City in Upper Egypt, serving more than (2 ) million patients annually.
For his part, Dr. Jamal Askar pointed out the importance of proper nutrition for children, which helps to strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of infection, praising the University's scientific capabilities and human cadres capable of advancing the field of therapeutic nutrition optimally.
Dr. Mohammed Zain explained that the conference is witnessing a state of outstanding scientific momentum; to exchange visions and experiences, and add many clear fingerprints to the development of the medical system, praising the medical cadres of Assiut University at the highest degree of efficiency and excellence, wishing the young doctors a fruitful conference with many important information.
Dr. Osama al-Asheer pointed out that the conference includes (24) lectures, throughout (6) scientific and discussion sessions, which revolve around: news in nutrition, treatment for the first and second types of diabetes, new drugs for the treatment of metabolic diseases, obesity, diabetes, as well as the problems of lactose intolerance in children and adults, stunting, developmental disorders in children, and nutrition in various diseases.
Dr. Medhat al-Arabi praised the university administration's support for the field of therapeutic nutrition as one of the most important pillars of the medical service, praising the graduates and students of the Diploma of Therapeutic Nutrition in providing integrated health services to patients visiting hospitals.
After the opening, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim gave a lecture on the role of some obesity drugs in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome in women, reviewing the causes of polycystic ovaries, the development of treatment methods, its relationship with other diseases, as well as its relationship with the imbalance of some hormones, insulin resistance, metabolic disorders, obesity, and the role of nutrition in its treatment.
It is worth mentioning that the opening ceremony was witnessed honoring the leaders of the University and the Faculty of Medicine, in addition to honoring several participating faculty members from various Egyptian universities and health authorities.
