-Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, on the activities and achievements of the Urology and Nephrology Surgery Hospital during 2024. This review aligns with the university’s commitment to continuous follow- up and emphasis on providing therapeutic services to patients and taking care of emergency patients, under the supervision of Dr. Diaa Abdel Hamid, Director of the hospital.
- The report highlighted the number of cases received at the Urology and Nephrology Surgery Hospital, which totaled 41,268 patients across various clinics. These cases were examined, assessed, and provided with the necessary medical services and specialized diagnostic procedures.
-According to the report, the Urology and Nephrology Hospital received (5422) cases from various governorates, where (3779) cases were received from Assiut, (386) cases from Sohag, (648) cases from Minya, (190) cases from Qena, (132) cases from New Valley, (114) cases from Aswan, (58) cases from Luxor, in addition to receiving (115) cases from other governorates, and (18) cases from various Arab countries.
The report further recorded that during 2024, the Urology and Nephrology Surgery Hospital recorded (5464) admissions, (3876) surgeries, (559) lithotripsy cases, and (835) urodynamic cases.
-As part of the hospital’s significant medical achievements in kidney transplantation, the Kidney Transplant Unit announced its success in reaching (80) successful kidney transplant cases by the end of 2024. These surgeries were performed by a highly skilled medical staff from the hospital, in collaboration with several other medical departments.
In line with the leading educational role of the Urology and Nephrology Hospital and its keenness to transfer the expertise of its professors to various expatriates from different countries; the hospital welcomed several international trainees from Germany in 2024 and they were trained on the latest surgical techniques in the field of urology.
-The hospital organized several distinguished scientific events with the participation of experts from different countries, including: A workshop on the treatment of open bladder in children; with the participation of German Professor Wolfgang Rosch, Head of the Urology Department at Krankenhaus Barmherzige University, Germany. Additionally, the hospital welcomed renowned urology specialists throughout 2024, including: Dr. Ayman Mehdi, Professor of Urology and Andrology at AdventHealth Winter Park Hospital, Orlando, Florida, USA, Dr. Nasr El-Din Abdel Aal, Head of the Urology and Andrology Department at Lausitzer Seenland Hospital, Germany and Dr. Mounir Hanna, Professor of Pediatric Urology in the USA. These experts participated in the 6th Annual Urology Conference, reflecting the hospital’s ongoing commitment to exchanging expertise and knowledge, enhancing the skills of young doctors, and staying up to date with the latest advancements in urology.
