Dr. El-Minshawy: The campaign is conducted through a mobile unit equipped with the latest equipment to examine breast tumors and raise awareness of the disease.
Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the university is launching a campaign for early breast cancer detection for all its female affiliates within the university campus. The initiative is part of the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health in Egypt and will run from Sunday, February 23, to Sunday, March 2, 2025.
The campaign is organized by the University Oncology Hospital at the South Egypt Cancer Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Alim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mohamed Abu Al-Majd, Dean of the South Egypt Cancer Institute; Dr. Amr Farouk Murad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Ibrahim Abu Al-Ayoun, Director of the University Oncology Hospital; Dr. Aamen Hamdy Zaki, Professor of Oncology at the Institute and General Coordinator of the Initiative; and Dr. Tamer Mahmoud Sami, Lecturer of Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine at the Institute and Initiative Coordinator.
Dr. El-Minshawy explained: The work of the campaign is scheduled to take place through a mobile unit equipped with the latest equipment to examine breast tumors for all women and girls from the university community, conduct medical examination, and raise their awareness of breast cancer, as part of the university's role and social responsibility in supporting the state, supporting its comprehensive development efforts, and reaching a healthy and well-informed society.
The President of Assiut University urged all female affiliates to take advantage of the screening campaign, emphasizing the importance of early detection in preventing the negative consequences of delayed diagnosis, which contributes to increasing the rate of recovery and raising awareness of ways to prevent and treat the disease in order to limit its spread within the university community.
