Prof. El-Minshawy Welcomes the Dutch Delegation Participating in the Workshop on “Spina Bifida and Neurogenic Bladder Treatment in Children” and Commends Joint Academic Cooperation.

Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received a high-level Dutch delegation today, Monday, February 24. The delegation included Professor Rein Neijman, Professor of Pediatric Urology in the Netherlands, and Ms. Carola MacDonald, Director of the Spina Bifida Program at Amsterdam Children’s Hospital in the Netherlands. Their visit comes as part of their participation in the workshop organized by the University Hospital for Urology and Andrology, titled: “Spina Bifida and Neurogenic Bladder Treatment in Children.”

The President of Assiut University welcomed the guests of the workshop, praising this fruitful cooperation with the Dutch side and their important participation that contributes to the interest in spina bifida patients, as it is one of the rare diseases and congenital defects that children suffer from since birth, which needs continuous follow-ups in various medical specialties, in addition to their scientific contribution in addressing the various aspects of the disease, in collaboration with a distinguished group of professors specializing in pediatric urology.

Dr. El-Minshawy emphasized that Assiut University Hospitals are committed to providing exceptional medical services to the residents of Upper Egypt across various specialties. This aligns with Egypt’s national directives to improve healthcare services and achieve effective integration with various institutions concerned with the medical field regionally and internationally, with the aim of raising patient recovery rates and providing excellent medical care for citizens. He also acknowledged the prominent role of the University Hospital for Urology and its dedication to exchanging expertise and scientific insights between university faculty and external experts, ensuring that knowledge is passed on to young doctors to enhance their medical skills in diagnosing and treating various conditions.

For their part, the Dutch delegation expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and praised the distinguished level of Assiut University in various research and scientific fields, expressing their desire to expand cooperation in various fields.

At the end of the meeting, 

Dr. El- Minshawy presented commemorative shields to the guests of the workshop from the Dutch side, in appreciation of this constructive cooperation and to promote more areas of future joint cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, along with a group of professors from the University Hospital for Urology and Andrology, including Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Shalaby, Professor of Urology; Dr. Hassan Abdel-Latif, Professor of Urology; Dr. Yasser Abdel-Salam, Head of the Urology Department; Dr. Ahmed Al-Darawi, Professor of Pediatric Urology and Head of the Workshop; Dr. Ahmed Serag, Professor of Pediatric Urology and Workshop Coordinator; and Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hamid, Professor of Pediatric Urology and Head of the Scientific Committee.
