Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, expresses his appreciation for the importance of World Water Day, which falls on March 22 every year, as an occasion to promote awareness of water issues and highlight the challenges facing global water security, as this year's celebration comes under the title "preserving glaciers – towards a secure water future", in a clear reference to the negative effects of melting glaciers on the availability of fresh water, which necessitates concerted international efforts to confront the repercussions of climate change.

In his statement, Dr. El-Minshawy praises the pioneering Egyptian efforts in the field of Water Resources Management, which is manifested in the adoption of national strategies to rationalize water consumption, maximize the use of available resources, and expand desalination and sewage treatment projects, to ensure the sustainability of this vital resource for future generations. On the other hand, Egypt is keen to strengthen regional and international cooperation on water issues and support initiatives aimed at finding innovative solutions to ensure water security in light of climate change.

In this context, the president of Assiut University emphasizes the importance of scientific research and innovation in achieving water sustainability, based on the University's role in supporting efforts to preserve water resources. The university is also keen to promote scientific studies and technological applications in the fields of desalination, reuse and industrial rainwater. It also calls for rationalizing water consumption and spreading a culture of responsible use within institutions and society, in addition to strengthening regional and international cooperation to address water challenges caused by climate change, as well as raising environmental awareness of the importance of conserving water resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.

At the end of his statement, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that water conservation is a common responsibility that requires concerted scientific and community efforts, stressing the need to direct investments towards the development of innovative solutions to ensure a safer and sustainable water future.
