Throughout two days, Assiut University witnessed the activities of the fourth
annual conference of the Egyptian Association of Viral Hepatitis (EAVH) in collaboration with the Egyptian Association for the study of Gastrointestinal
and liver diseases.
In the opening speech, Prof. Mustafa Kamal, president of Assiut University,
asserted that the university in collaboration with a number of interested
Egyptian associations is trying to develop a mechanism to resist the viral
hepatitis and prevent it. On the other hand, Prof. Maher Al-Asal, Dean of
Faculty of Medicine, alerted that the situation in Egypt is dangerous and needs
to be dealt seriously with it and pointed out that we need many researches in
the field of therapy, especially Genic-therapy.
The four sessions of the conference discussed a number of subjects such as:
tailoring of treatment of hepatitis C, Proton-pump inhibitors in special
population, Hematological changes in liver diseases, Current status of liver
transplantation in Egypt, Parasitic diseases of the liver, Current transmission
of hepatitis C in Egypt, and treatment of TB in special situations.
Viral Hepatitis in a Conference at Assiut University
