The Department of Information Technology of Faculty of Computers and Information at Asyut University established according to the promulgated faculty regulations in Decree No. (694) on 22/5/2004 in order to generate students equipped with the required scientific knowledge in the field of information technology. As well, simulating with modern development which will help in solving social problems.

Mission

The Information Technology Department was established to prepare graduates equipped with scientific knowledge assets specialized in the field of information technology while keeping pace with the department's programs with modern variables which is done through providing distinguished curricula in various branches of information technology and its scientific and applied research subject to international standards, quality and positive interaction of the department's role in serving the environment and developing society.

Vision

The Information Technology Department seeks to provide the elements for the continuous development of education in the field of information technology to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological developments and to improve university performance, and to elevate the department’s graduates to the level of excellence and high competitiveness, and to complete distinguished scientific research and studies and to maximize the department’s role in serving the environment and developing society.

Goals

• Preparing specialists in the field of information technology and networks and managing them, and providing the qualified with the theoretical foundations and methodologies of application to enable them to compete internationally in developing computer and information technologies.
• Conducting scientific and applied studies and research in the field of information technology that have a direct impact on the integrated development of society.
• Providing scientific and technical advice and assistance to bodies and agencies that use information technology and network technologies and are interested in the components of this technology.
• Rehabilitation of graduates of various colleges according to the needs of the labor market in modern fields of information technology, networks and multimedia by holding applied diplomas.
• Deepening awareness of the use of information technology technologies in the sectors and institutions of the state and raising the efficiency of their use through specialized professional training courses.
• Participate with the specialized agency to develop and Arabize IT software, networks and various applications.
• Organizing seminars and holding scientific conferences with the aim of deepening concepts and upgrading the scientific level among specialized cadres.
• Concluding scientific agreements with the corresponding bodies and institutions at the local, regional and global levels, with the aim of exchanging experiences and conducting research related to information technology majors.
• Create a  proposal to establish units of a special nature for specialized research and advancement in the field of information technology.
