An introduction to the library:

The Library of the College of Computers and Information provides its library and information services to support the educational process and scientific research for all faculty members, assistant staff, graduate students and undergraduate students in the fields of computer science and information.

Library campus:

  • Date of establishment: It was established by the Republican Decree of 2001 AD
  • Location: Administrative building of the Faculty of Computers and Information
  •  Area: Total area (206 m2)
  •  Number of halls: Two halls
  • Student hall includes (18) tables and (64) seats
  • Postgraduate studies hall includes (6) tables and (20) seats

Library Vision:

 The Library of the College of Computers and Information aspires to provide knowledge and educational resources that help prepare a generation capable of competing in the knowledge-based economy and innovation in the fields of computers and information.

 Library message:

 Enabling the beneficiary to view the latest paper and electronic information sources available in the library by organizing and retrieving various research sources and preparing the appropriate structure for that.

Library Objectives:

Acquiring books, references and university theses and providing global scientific databases for researchers and information containers that benefit researchers and students through the Egyptian University Libraries Association portal. Preparing the necessary indexes to facilitate access to holdings, especially electronic indexes. Providing and presenting electronic or digital information and sources. The library is keen, through Assiut University’s subscriptions to global databases, to provide modern references and periodicals that serve the educational process for researchers and students of the Faculty of Computers and Information. This is done by entering and registering on the databases available from within Assiut University, where researchers and students create an account on the Knowledge Bank via academic mail through the Assiut University Server to benefit from the university’s subscription to the following databases:

Library Services:

First: Internal Perusal Service

Students and researchers are allowed to have internal perusal of all library holdings with the help of the librarian. Second: Subject Search Service The library provides a subject search service for students and researchers from electronic catalogs with the help of the librarian through the Egyptian Universities Libraries Union portal

Third: External borrowing service

External borrowing rules according to the university libraries regulations at Assiut University - The following items may not be borrowed outside the library:

 Single copy books

 Scientific theses

Encyclopedias, dictionaries and glossaries

 - External borrowing is allowed for faculty members and their assistants.

 - The student is allowed to borrow two books per week for a maximum of five days.

If the book is not returned on time, the student will be deprived of the loan for a period equal to the loan period.

Fourth: Internet Service

 Students and researchers are allowed to use the free Internet service through the library’s Wi-Fi after registering the computer with the information network officer in the college’s laboratory building.

 

Fifth: Photocopying Service

 The student or researcher is allowed to photocopy a small number of pages of the book, not exceeding (One Chapters), in order to protect the author’s rights and preserve references and collections, for a fee of (1 EGP) for one page and (2 EGP) for a double-sided page.

Library working hours:

 Library services are available from Sunday to Wednesday from (8:30 AM) to (2:00 PM) and Thursday from (8:30 - 2:00 PM), and the evening period system is used during the academic year all days of the week from (8:30 AM) to (4:00 PM) and Thursday morning period. The library also opens its doors during the summer vacation from (8:30 AM) to (2:00 PM).
