In a cordial and open meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, held a session on Wednesday morning with young doctors at the University Trauma and Emergency Hospital. The purpose of the meeting was to listen to their views and concerns, and to discuss ways to enhance their work and training environment—part of the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting its young medical professionals and improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Assiut University Hospitals; Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid, Director of the Trauma and Emergency Hospital; as well as several faculty members and hospital doctors.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. El-Minshawy affirmed that young doctors are a top priority for the university, recognizing their vital role in the healthcare system. He emphasized the university administration’s keenness to maintain direct and continuous communication with medical teams and to foster a transparent environment where their voices are heard.
During his speech, the university president was keen to reassure the young doctors, saying: "You are in our hearts. Every challenge you face is our responsibility, we are with you step by step," he said, adding: "Every young doctor is a leader in his field, and we must guarantee you fair working conditions, good training and real development opportunities."
In this context, he stressed that the university spares no effort in providing a fair and motivating work environment for all doctors. He also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to develop infrastructure and medical equipment, while empowering young professionals as the cornerstone of the future healthcare sector.
During the meeting, the university president directed a package of systematic measures aimed at improving the work environment inside the Trauma and Emergency Hospital, including developing work systems, providing appropriate equipment, and balancing the distribution of workloads.
He also emphasized the need to provide a sufficient number of teaching assistants and demonstrators to alleviate the pressure on young doctors, ensuring both professional efficiency and smooth delivery of medical services to patients.
Within the framework of improving the quality of medical training and education, Dr. El-Minshawy stressed the importance of direct supervision by faculty members on young doctors, whether during the educational process or during the performance of daily therapeutic tasks, stressing that this type of guidance not only enhances the level of experience gained, but also contributes to providing the necessary psychological support to young doctors, gives them confidence in facing professional challenges, and helps them develop their performance in a safe and stimulating educational environment based on continuous guidance and rational scientific accompaniment.
For their part, the young doctors participating in the meeting expressed their gratitude and appreciation for this sincere space of dialog, which was made available to them by the university president and hospital leaders, pointing out that this interaction reflects the real interest of the university administration in improving their professional and educational conditions, and represents a great moral boost for them to continue to perform their mission with dedication and responsibility.
This meeting comes as part of Assiut University’s broader initiative to strengthen internal communication and respond to the needs of its medical staff on the ground—an actionable step that reaffirms its ongoing commitment to developing the healthcare system and offering comprehensive support to its doctors at all stages.
