Since 1957, we have been holding one of the most modern physics laboratories in Egypt.

Active research programs are performed in the Physics Department in different areas, such as theoretical physics, solid state physics, radiation physics, plasma physics, and corona discharge. Demonstrators and assistant lecturers take the opportunity to be part of the teaching program of the Department (Lab teacher/ Tutorial Teacher).

Laboratory:

Our students really enjoy learning physics in our Labs due to the  availability  of  well  qualified  assistance that can help students complete  their work  safely,  correctly,  and  within  the  time  of  each  Lab session.

Student Laboratories:

The department includes the following laboratories:-

Freshman, First level, second level labs

By attending the lab sessions, you will learn:

  1. Fine measurements using different tools
  2. How to confirm some important laws and concepts of fundamental physics
  3. Difference between linear motion in resistive and non resistive media
  4. Elastic Properties of Solids
  5. Thermal properties of solids
  6. Liquids and Gases
  7. Fundamental laws of geometrical optics
  8. Accurate measurement of electrical resistances and Earth's magnetic field

Computer and IT faculty lab

This Lab is designed especially for students of computer and information sciences faculty to serve the two courses Phys. 111 and Phys. 112.  Each of the two parts contains 12 experiments devoted to topics taught in the corresponding course. In the first part the topic is Classical Mechanics

What is covered: Experiments to study linear motion down an incline using air tracks with wonderful design (due to Pasco) and another one for an object moving in the field of gravity (free falling designed by Leybold) can be fined.

Students enjoy studying oscillatory motion by the three available experiments, one for a point object (simple pendulum, the second for extended object (physical pendulum) and the third for highly symmetric object (torsion pendulum).

The availability of well qualified assistance is helpful for the students to complete their work safely, correctly, and within the time of each Lab session.
