Regular meeting of the Council for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs

The College of Computers and Information was honored by the visit of Professor Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

It will be held for the month of December 2023, in the presence of members of the Council for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem confirmed: The sector was keen to play its assigned role in serving its surrounding community. By increasing the space for activities and events that can advance and develop society, in addition to maximizing the benefit from awareness-raising activities and seminars in various fields, pointing to the importance of spreading awareness of the sustainable development goals and disseminating sustainable practices within the university campus. In pursuit of achieving the national strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The report indicated a follow-up of what has been implemented to study the current situation of the community service and environmental development sector using SWOT analysis to prepare the strategic plan, discuss activating the role of the Civil Protection Unit, and the unit for filling and maintaining fire-fighting means at the university, and follow-up the Ministry of the Environment’s plan to implement the second phase of the competition. “Our health is the health of our planet,” where a committee was formed to develop mechanisms for implementation, announcing a competition among university students, and discussing the report of the “Best Environmentally Friendly University” competition and possible amendments to the conditions of the competition.

The Council also agreed to develop an action plan to integrate the region in the field of community service and environmental development, activate anti-smoking mechanisms, study the results of the Indonesian classification (2023), and complete the proposal submitted to establish a unit to combat stimulants and prohibited nutritional supplements at Assiut University.

The Council reviewed the launch of the website for the activities and reports of the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector, submitted by the university’s colleges and institutes, at the Information Systems Center at the College of Computers and Information.

The Council stressed the importance of digital transformation in managing digital data and information for the sector, and to bring about a qualitative shift in it, to achieve sustainable development goals in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Dr. Tayseer Hassan Abdel Hamid, Dean of the College of Computers and Information and Head of the Committee supervising the implementation of the site, indicated that the site was designed within three months to be the first digital transformation in the community service and environmental development affairs sector at the university.

For his part, Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Hamad, Vice Dean of the College of Education for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and member of the committee supervising implementation, explained that the site was designed to serve the deputies in their colleges to submit committee reports, as well as seminars, training courses, and convoys of various kinds.

Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Rahman, an assistant lecturer at the College of Computers and Information, gave an explanation of how to log in to the site, deal with its services, and the mechanism for submitting reports and various activities. Some modifications were discussed, so that the site will be in use from next month.
