Vision

To ensure the continuous development of the factors of the quality assurance systems in the college to qualify for the institutional and academic accreditation of its programs from international bodies. 

Mission

Providing the pillars for continuous development of teaching and learning to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological developments and to improve the performance and raise the graduates of the Faculty to the level of competitiveness. 

History

The Quality Assurance unit in the Faculty of Pharmacy in Assiut University was established in 26/10/2004 and accredited by the decree no. 421.of the Faculty council

The Unit Manager has been hired by the decree of the dean of the Faculty in 3/5/2008.

Room no. 504 on the 5th floor has been recruited in the Faculty's administrative building and equipped with the outstanding human cadres and the needed financial preparations for the operation of the unit. Also, the unit's name has been changed from "Quality control unit" to "Quality assurance unit" and this change has been accredited by the Faculty council by decree no. 560 dated 21/9/2010. According to that decree, the unit is considered among the internal organizational hierarchy of the Faculty which is affiliated with the Professor. Dean of the Faculty.

The unit is considered to be an extension to the unit of academic performance evaluation in the University of Assiut which was established in 1997. That was due to the extensive attention the government has given higher education and considering it as a national project to face the third millennium challenges. Through focusing on the quality of the higher education, it was crucial to pay more attention to the quality of the academic education and its evaluation in addition to developing the learning and research processes, community services and environmental development and also, acquiring the institutional accreditation for the faculty and its diverse programs and that is achieved through setting sub targets to ensure the success of evaluating the learning process through the performance indicators of the inputs and outputs of the educational process.

The Faculty has a strategy for achieving the aspired goals for the unit to spread the inclusive quality and the continuous development of the educational curriculum in the Faculty, not only on the level of the academic staff but also, for their assistants, students, and it also includes awareness sessions for the workers in the administrative departments.

The unit is keen to provide the qualifications of the continuous development of higher education to keep pace with the rapid scientific development and racing technologies, enhancing performance, and leveling up the level of excellence of the faculty graduates to qualify them for global competition.

The quality assurance unit is considered to be one of the units of the center of quality control in the faculty. The unit is keen on disciplining the performance of the learning process for all the elements and activities of the educational system in the different sectors. (Students, Education, Postgraduate studies, Community service and environmental development)

In addition to the scientific department and the administrative department that applies the quality standards according to the local, regional and global standards of performance and that to achieve inclusive quality, continuous development for the educational system inside the Faculty and to raise the level of efficiency and capacity in the field of pharmaceutical education as well as the ability of to compete.

The strategic objectives of the unit

Evaluating and developing university performance by measuring performance indicators for the educational process include the following:

  1. Continuing the evaluation process to include the mechanisms and standards of evaluation and procedural steps to implement the quality assurance system and find a mechanism to confirm the continuation of the activity solely to ensure quality and the sustainability of quality activities in the Faculty.
  2. Exchange experiences and ideas for the development of pharmaceutical education with similar centers and units in the faculties of pharmacy in Egyptian and Arab universities and to benefit from them in achieving the desired development.
  3. Follow-up the development of the various departments in the Faculty for its programs to bring the graduate of the Faculty to a distinct level among the graduates of the corresponding Faculties in other universities in order to have them compete in the local, Arab and international labor market.
  4.  Submit an annual report to the Faculty by the standards of the National Committee on the performance of the Faculty in the field of education, graduate studies, research and professional and community services. 
  5. Implementing the strategy of ensuring quality in the faculty and applying the necessary mechanisms for implementation within the Faculty.
  6. Setting the mechanisms that lead to ensuring quality within the faculty by:
  • Description of academic programs and courses for the first University and postgraduate studies through the competent committee.
  • Reporting courses and programs of each academic year, as well as the work of the annual report of the Faculty.
  • Follow up on the implementation of the work plans drawn up by the Faculty and reporting them to the Faculty council.
  • Educate faculty members, their assistants, students and staff about the importance of quality as a way to achieve excellence.
  • Supervising the distribution and analysis of the results of questionnaires that help evaluate the courses by students and faculty members.
  • Follow-up the activity of the faculty members and analyze the performance of the faculty in this field.
  • Maximizing the performance of the Faculty in the field of community service and environmental development. 
  1. Increasing the relationship of the Faculty with its graduates and their follow-up in the labor market.
  2. Support the decision to strengthen cooperation between scientific research centers and pharmaceutical production in accordance with the mission of the Faculty and the university.
